Crazy about Cabins!
We are Crazy about Cabins… log cabins that is! And I know, you love them too. Our darling office cabin needs a name. Will you help? If you have a moment this week, stop on by our Facebook page and cast your vote. I am also excited to announce that we are going to be featured in a business spotlight article in the Home & Garden issue of Sandpoint Living Local. Keep your eye out for the March release. I also want to wish you a very Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you are able to share it with your best friend in your favorite spot. A cozy cabin maybe? Enjoy your day!
Generational Experience
One of the advantages of using Montana Specialty Log Construction is the fact that you are receiving generational experience. Nelson has grown up working on log homes all his life. He worked alongside his father in their family business and has brought that skill and experience into MSLC. “Any credit goes to my dad, Richard Troyer, who has been building log homes for over 25 years. I worked alongside my dad since I was 10 years old.” Along with skill, Nelson has also brought values into the workplace. “My goal is to do honest, quality work.” Confidence, Service and Solutions is what we are about. Thank you for choosing MSLC!

Closed-Cell Spray Polyurethane Foam
Did you know that CcSPF is one of the most effective ways to insulate a building? At MSLC, we use the proven performance of CcSPF to insulate our subfloors and roofing systems. It can be used in garages, sheds or commercial buildings as well. Here are some of the benefits:
- This insulation has a proven performance record during severe weather. Spray foam insulation works far better than other popular types of insulation.
- It is a moisture barrier and deters mold.
- Closed-Cell Spray Foam has a long life span.
- SPF reduces drafts and increases comfort.
- SPF will not sag or settle. It can eliminate the need for separate house-wrap and vapor retarders.
- Closed-cell foam has a density of about 2 lb. per cubic foot and an R-value of 6 to 6.5 per inch.
- Excellent insulation efficiency of SPF can reduce heating and cooling usage dramatically.

Depending on the condition of your home, restoration begins with removal and replacement of rotted logs. If the logs are weathered and in need of staining, media blasting has proven to be the most thorough process in preparing your home for the application of stain/clear coat. If the logs have never been stained, media blasting is not usually needed. Applying products like Sashco’s CPR, and then pressure washing, is another effective way to prepare your home for staining. Hello Friend,
Here we have a sketch to help you visualize what can be done with a home like this one. There are many options, however, for altering this floor plan. As a custom log home company, we build and design our homes to the specific needs and desires of our individual customers. We do not offer cookie-cutter homes and therefor do not have a catalog full of pre designed house plans to look through. Part of the advantage of working with a custom builder, is that we will sit down with you and design the home that meets your needs and budget. I know that it is sometimes harder to visualize when looking at a blank rectangle or “box” and so I will be sharing with you some of our past home floor plans that we’ve done for other customers to give you some ideas or a place to start. You can also get ideas for design and styles by looking at magazines and
