Our goal is to do honest, quality work with complete customer satisfaction.

“We just had them replace the existing rustic log railing on our cabin deck. The job was made more difficult by the fact that the new rails and posts had to be custom crafted to fit exactly into the existing post mounting spaces. That involved selecting the proper diameter logs for posts which then resulted in an exact spacing for each span. The end result was beautiful new railing installed very efficiently and professionally by Nelson’s crew! Great job.”

"We wanted to express our thanks for a job well done by MT Specialty Log Construction. The men were very clean in the performance of their work, placed drop cloths, removed their shoes, and double checked the work. They always asked if anything met our expectations. They were on time, completed the job within stated time frame. and cleaned up upon leaving our home. We would highly recommend Nelson and his crew for any work required on a log home since they also repaired a few items that were weathered."

"Montana Specialty Log Construction is a first-class company. They arrived on site and completely blasted my house to bare logs, treated the wood, stained the entire house and repaired missing and damaged chinking in addition to caulking a large number of log checks. From the time they started to the time they did their final clean-up it took 4-1/2 days. I am VERY happy with how everything turned out and would recommend this company to anyone."

"I was so stressed out about the rotting logs on a corner of my house. (see the  Restoration Page) When Nelson came to bid on the repair, I was so sure he would just shake his head and give me the worst news. Instead he just dove in with no hesitation and got the job done. He and his helpers worked so hard, and didn’t quit until the log replacement was complete, with little to no inconvenience to me. He knows what he is doing and hits it hard and with confidence. In fact I tell people that I am sure Nelson was born with a chainsaw in his hands, the way he maneuvered himself and the saw up and down the ladder.  I love my new sturdy log corner and recommend Nelson and Sarah to everyone!"

"This is a letter of recommendation for Nelson Troyer and Mt. Specialty Log Construction. Nelson and his staff were “Great”. We first contacted Nelson last fall, when we found, log rot, on one of our outside log walls. (see restoration on the website) Nelson’s work is wonderful. Nelson and his staff arrived on time and finished on time. They were here 5 days. In that time they did the restoration and extended our roof. We were so pleased we asked Nelson to come back and remove the old stain and re-stain our log home. We weren’t sure we liked the color at first, but have since grown very fond of it. We really like what he did. We will contact him again if we need any other work done for us. He was very easy to work. If you need anything done on a log home, Nelson is your man. You can contact us if you have any concerns about any of his work."

"I am over 50 years old and never wrote a testimonial in my life…frankly I did not put much faith in them. However, I live in Florida and am trying to build a log home on Deer Island outside of Clark Fork, ID. I had a general contractor that was subcontracting many of the building processes until he left Idaho to seek fortunes on the gas pipeline in North Dakota. He took some of my money with him. So now I am the general contractor and I have to find a log cabin expert, plumbers, electricians, etc to finish this home. And much to my amazement in walks Nelson Troyer with Montana Specialty Log Construction. Trying to build a home 3000 miles away has its challenges and being the general contractor the most important attribute of builder is integrity and their quality of work. See Nelson Troyer. Nelson does the highest of quality for log home construction. Nelson has creative ideas and great suggestions that I never even thought of. Nelson estimates jobs for me and sends me money back if he ends up doing it for a lesser price. He is likely the only guy I would send a box full of money to and trust him to do the right thing…from 3000 miles away. I sure anyone can appreciate the quality and creative design of the homes he builds by looking at the photos of his work. What they may not see is the quality and integrity of the person doing the work. Nelson is exemplary…I trust him like a brother. My only hesitation with writing my first testimonial is that too many people will employ his gift of amazing construction."

"Nelson: I can't thank you enough for the beautiful home you built for my family! It is beautiful from many perspectives: artfully designed, artfully constructed, and solid against the strong winds of the area. The wood speaks to my heart and compliments my soul. Thank you."

"The before and after is dramatic. The logs look like new. The chinking makes the building airtight and looks good too. I would recommend Montana Specialty Log Construction in a New York minute!"
